Only 30 km from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley is a green oasis nestled in the folds of the High Atlas. Lush with walnut and olive trees, it offers a striking contrast to the ochre aridness of Marrakech.
The Ourika Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the High Atlas, easily accessible from Marrakech. Lush and verdant year-round, it follows the Ourika River through a succession of Berber villages clinging to the hillsides. The excursion ends at the Setti Fatma waterfalls, where a refreshing swim awaits the most courageous.
Unlike tourist sites, Ourika is a living valley where Berber communities have farmed the terraces for centuries. You can observe traditional irrigation systems, witness women weaving on traditional looms, and taste fresh goat cheese produced in the villages.
The village of Setti Fatma is the starting point for a hike to seven waterfalls. The first is accessible in about 45 minutes on a well-marked path. The higher cascades require more effort but reward with splendid solitude and views over the entire valley.
